A Good Food Day by Marco Canora is a really fun book. I have a tendency to make the same 2 dozen dishes constantly because they are easy and I do not have to reference a cookbook or go buy special ingredients in order to make them. This book is going to be a fantastic addition of recipes for the summer.
First, the book is organized into categories (like most), but it has a few categories that I rarely see. There is a section on beans/lentils, great grains, and vegetables. There are some unique takes on more common items (sweet potatoes with rosemary) and then some basic recipes with items that I have always wanted to try but haven’t had a solid recipe to try (Quinoa Panzanella). I know that the internet allows us access to recipes from everywhere, but it is nice to have a few recipes that have been tested and flavor balanced by a chef’s palate.
The book features great photos, nice clean prep, simple techniques that are versatile, and the overall appearance of the book is easy to follow. The ingredients, background info, and recipes are all in slightly different colored fonts that make it easier to focus on the various parts of what you are supposed to be looking at.
